Mild Earthquake Jolts Northern Telangana
A mild earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale shook parts of northern Telangana on the evening of May 5, 2025. The tremors were felt around 6:50 PM in several districts, including Karimnagar, Jagityal, Vemulawada, Sirisilla, Nirmal, and Peddapalli. According to preliminary reports, the quake lasted a few seconds, prompting some residents to rush out of their homes in alarm. The epicenter is believed to be near Kumram Bheem Asifabad district.
Though no casualties or significant damage have been reported, the incident caused brief panic among locals. Officials from the Disaster Management Department are monitoring the situation and have advised the public to remain alert but not panic. Telangana has experienced minor tremors in the past, but experts suggest that such events, while rare, underscore the need for basic earthquake preparedness in the region.
