Centre to Set Up Shipbuilding Hub in Andhra Pradesh

The Central Government has announced plans to establish a major shipbuilding and repair center near Dugarajapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. The project is part of a nationwide initiative to strengthen India’s maritime infrastructure.

Officials say the facility will attract significant investment and generate employment through advanced ship construction and maintenance operations. Its location near Dugarajapatnam Port is expected to boost sea trade and support the state’s economic growth.

Similar centers are also being planned in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu, with site identification already underway.
