Early Monsoon 2025 Arrives in Kerala After 16 Years
India is set to experience an early monsoon in 2025, with the rains expected to reach Kerala within the next 24 hours, marking a rare occurrence after 16 years. This is nearly a week ahead of the usual schedule, as monsoon rains typically begin in Kerala around June 1. The last time the monsoon arrived this early was in 2009 and 2001. Experts attribute this early arrival to a low-pressure system, which has already brought heavy rains to several parts of the state over the last two days. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon is likely to reach Kerala by May 27, providing favorable conditions for agricultural growth, particularly for crops that benefit from early rainfall.
