70 Pakistani Nationals Stranded at Attari Border as Deadline for Leaving India Expires

A total of 70 Pakistani nationals were left stranded at the Attari-Wagah border on Thursday after the deadline for leaving India expired a day earlier. The border, which had been open until April 30, was shut following the Centre’s directive for Pakistani nationals to leave after the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir that killed 26 people.

The deadline varied depending on visa types, with those holding SAARC visas required to leave by April 26, medical visa holders by April 29, and other short-term visa holders by April 27. After the closure, Pakistani nationals were not permitted to enter the Integrated Check Post (ICP) to continue their journey, while India’s border was also sealed, leaving many Indian nationals stranded in Pakistan. Some individuals, unaware of the deadline, were unable to cross in time, including those visiting relatives or religious sites.
