Andhra Pradesh Cabinet Approves Amaravati as Capital, Sends Proposal to Centre

In a significant move, the Andhra Pradesh state cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, approved a proposal to officially designate Amaravati as the state capital, replacing the previous reference tied to undivided Andhra Pradesh in the Reorganisation Act. The resolution will now be forwarded to the central government for approval.

At the cabinet meeting held at the Secretariat, several key decisions were taken, including support for Amaravati’s reconstruction and endorsement of land allotments discussed in the 47th CRDA meeting. The cabinet also reviewed welfare schemes, approved aid for fishermen, cleared 281 infrastructure projects, and praised Operation Sindoor, vowing to assign meaningful names to future state schemes.
