Apple to Invest in India Supply Chain Despite Trump’s Objections

Foxconn, Apple’s key contract manufacturer, has announced a $1.5 billion investment to set up a display module plant in Tamil Nadu, India, signaling a major expansion of Apple’s supply chain in the country. This move comes days after former US President Donald Trump publicly urged Apple CEO Tim Cook to stop producing in India and bring operations back to the United States.

The new facility, part of Foxconn’s India unit Yuzhan Technologies, is expected to create around 14,000 jobs and strengthen India’s role in global electronics manufacturing. Despite political pressures, Apple and its suppliers are clearly committed to diversifying their production base beyond China, further deepening their presence in India’s fast-growing tech sector.
