India Confirms Pakistani Strikes, Debunks Claims of Major Damage
India has confirmed that multiple military installations were targeted by Pakistani strikes overnight but strongly denied Islamabad’s claims of causing heavy damage. In a special media briefing on Saturday, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, alongside Army Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and IAF Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, asserted that Indian forces responded “calmly, proportionately, and effectively.”
The strikes followed the deadly April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people. Pakistan reportedly targeted 26 Indian sites, including airbases in Udhampur, Pathankot, and Bhuj. While minor damage and some injuries were acknowledged, India emphasized that key infrastructure remains operational.
India also launched retaliatory strikes under “Operation Sindoor,” hitting Pakistani military sites in Rafiqui, Chaklala, and Sialkot. Officials condemned Pakistan’s “misinformation campaign,” dismissing claims that India’s S-400 systems or major airfields were destroyed. Airspace remains tense amid this latest escalation.
