India-Pakistan Diplomatic Row: Pakistan Expels Indian Diplomat in Tit-for-Tat Move

In a reciprocal move, Pakistan on Tuesday declared an Indian diplomat stationed in Islamabad as ‘persona non grata’ and ordered their departure within 24 hours. The action follows India’s expulsion of a Pakistani official from its High Commission in New Delhi on similar grounds.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Indian official was involved in activities “incompatible with his privileged status.” The Indian Charge d’Affaires was summoned and handed a formal demarche.

The diplomatic tensions come in the wake of Operation Sindoor and recent ceasefire between the two nations after the Pahalgam terror attack. Both sides have now expelled diplomats in a continuing pattern of strained ties.
