India Strikes Terror Targets in Pakistan, 70+ Terrorists Killed
In a pre-dawn operation early Wednesday, the Indian Armed Forces carried out 24 precision missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK), including known strongholds of terror groups Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. The airstrikes targeted locations in Muridke and Bahawalpur, killing over 70 terrorists and injuring more than 60, significantly weakening the operational capabilities of these groups.
The strikes were a direct response to the terror attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, Anantnag district, Jammu & Kashmir, in which 26 lives were lost, including 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen. The Ministry of Defence confirmed the precision of the attacks, stating that no Pakistani military facilities were targeted, and the operation was carried out with restraint to avoid escalation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged that those responsible for the attack will be pursued relentlessly, warning that their punishment will be beyond their imagination. The strikes occurred just hours before a nationwide civil defence drill, which aims to enhance preparedness against hostile threats.
