Setback for YS Jagan as TDP Govt Removes Key Municipal Leaders

The Andhra Pradesh government has removed Macherla Municipal Chairman Turaka Kishore and Kadapa Mayor K. Suresh Babu from their posts, dealing a blow to the YSR Congress Party. Kishore was dismissed for violating municipal rules by skipping 15 council meetings and is also facing allegations of abuse of power. The government cited Section 16(1)(k) of the AP Municipal Act in its order.

Kadapa Mayor Suresh Babu was removed over allegations of awarding contracts to family members. His explanation failed to satisfy officials, leading to his dismissal. In another jolt to YSRCP, MLC and Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Zakia Khannam resigned on May 14, further intensifying internal turmoil in the party after its election loss.
