Supreme Court Rejects Anticipatory Bail for YSRCP Leader Sajjala Bhargav Reddy in SC/ST Atrocities Case

The Supreme Court has refused to grant anticipatory bail to YSR Congress Party social media convenor  in a case filed under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The case stems from allegedly objectionable posts made on social media. While rejecting his plea, the apex court directed him to seek relief from the trial court and gave a two-week deadline to do so.

The bench emphasized that social media cases cannot be treated lightly and warned that granting bail without due scrutiny would encourage misuse of the platform. The court remarked that if bail is easily granted in such cases, it would set a dangerous precedent, allowing individuals to post inflammatory or derogatory content without fear of consequences.
