Trump Says He May Join Ukraine Peace Talks in Turkey if Putin Attends
Former U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday there is a possibility he would travel to Turkey for Ukraine peace talks -if Russian President Vladimir Putin also agrees to attend. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One during his Gulf tour, Trump said, “If we could end the war, I’d be thinking about that.”
Trump is currently scheduled to visit the United Arab Emirates on Thursday but hinted he could adjust plans “to save a lot of lives.” Secretary of State Marco Rubio is already set to arrive in Istanbul on Friday for the talks.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has urged Putin to attend the meeting, warning that a refusal would signal a lack of interest in peace. While Putin has called for negotiations, Russia has yet to confirm his participation.
